Girls' Day Out

Dear Baby,

Last Saturday, I took you out for some shopping. It was a brisk day in Chicago, but still nice enough to eat outside. I needed to find a cocktail dress for a wedding that me and Babbo are going to this weekend. I love you lots, baby, but woo, shopping is quite the chore these days.

I shop in what's called the 'maternity' section. That means other mamas like me need special clothes to fit our growing bellies. After all, we still need to look chic while we are carrying you little munchkins around!:) Oh baby, I do laugh when I see myself naked. The way the human body can stretch and grow is simply amazing. Do you know that I often spend up to an hour just looking at you and my belly? I twist from side to side and wonder if you flip flop to and fro. I sometimes stare long and hard into a mirror to see if you can look back at me.

This is the very thing I was doing when I was shopping this weekend. I tried on a slew of dresses for us. Long, short, black, white and finally settled on a nice gray frock, with satin trim. I also decided that I could dress this down in the fall, getting more wear out of the dress. That's Shopping Lesson #1: getting the best use out of your clothes. Don't worry, we have plenty of time to go through all of this when you arrive.

After I went shopping, I treated us to a ladies' lunch at RL. Can you believe that I've never eaten there? The sun was nice enough for me to sit outside and enjoy soup and a salad, while reading one of my geek magazines (yes, baby, your mama is a big tech dork).

While I was shopping for me, don't you worry, I picked out a few cute numbers for you.

Mama promises not to dress you in all pink:).
